Teach with TVW: Capitol Classroom Volunteer Lobbyists
Share your policy expertise. Inspire Washington’s next generation.
Capitol Classroom connects real-world lobbyists with classrooms across Washington State. Through this hands-on civics program, students learn how laws are made, track live bills, and experience the legislative process firsthand — guided by you.
Why Volunteer?
“I think the most meaningful thing I have taken away from the program was how it showed us how even kids can make a difference in our government.”
— Neko, Student
As a volunteer lobbyist, you’ll:
- Partner with a classroom of middle or high school students
- Guide them in tracking legislation that matters to their community.
- Help them understand how to propose, amend, and testify on bills.
- Show them how their voices matter in democracy.
Your participation brings government to life for students — and empowers them to become informed, engaged citizens.
What You’ll Do
- Connect directly with teachers and students across Washington.
- Explain the legislative process from your perspective.
- Coach students through live bill tracking during session.
- Answer questions and offer real insight into how advocacy works.
Commitment: 30 min Zoom with the class every two weeks over the course of the session, coordinated with the teacher.
