CONNECTS with H. Stuart Elway

Background:

H. Stuart Elway is one of America’s most respected public opinion pollsters. Son of a WA State Senator from Hoquiam WA, Stuart has been steeped in politics his entire life. At 20 Stuart became involved in energizing voters through a progressive Republican group called Action for Washington. The goal was to get out the youth vote, regardless of party. This involvement soon led to his work as an aide to Gov. Dan Evans. Stuart went on to earn a doctorate in communications from UW and soon found a passion for collaboration in the newsroom and non-partisan polling. By the 1990s Elway emerged as the go-to expert on Northwest political trends.

He directed the Seattle Times Washington Poll from 1984-2000, The Elway Poll from 1992-2018, and currently directs the Crosscut|Elway Poll, the only on-going, non-partisan analysis of public opinion in Washington state.

Today Elway Research Inc. is widely cited in media outlets throughout Washington State and Nationally and been quoted in every major daily newspaper in the country. In the last election cycles in which Elway Research Inc. has participated, it was rated one of the top six election polling firms in the country by fivethirtyeight.com.
